Beluga Whale Season

2000 to 3000 beluga whales visit the Churchill River Estuary every summer. These friendly, vocal and highly intelligent mammals are a joy to observe and Churchill has the best beluga whale watching in the world. A sub-arctic summer is a short intense period with a great variety of flowering vegetation and even some summer polar bears, forced ashore by the melting Hudson Bay ice. There's lots to do and see in the summer.

The Churchill Northern Studies Centre offers high-quality adventure study tours. Each five day course is a true learning experience led by professional scientists and researchers.

Parks Canada Interpretive Centre: A wealth of information in the newly refurbished train station.

Wapusk National Park is a remote and relatively inaccessible area covering over 11,000 square kilometers south and east of Churchill, Manitoba.  Visitors can also enjoy the vegetation, wildlife and unique experience of visiting these sub-arctic and coastal lowland ecosystems right around the town of Churchill, including the Churchill River estuary and Provincial Wildlife Management Area.  An experienced tour guide knows where to take you and how to keep you safe.  The Town of Churchill and its enterprising residents have earned the reputation of being the Polar Bear and Beluga Whale capital of the world.
